Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year of full-time research experience. Experience with molecular biology techniques, such as plasmid purification, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and bacterial culture. Experience with cell culture. Experience with computational or statistical data analysis, such as in MS Excel or programming in R.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Rogers Lab at Stony Brook University is seeking a Research Support Specialist to perform research related to gene regulation. The Rogers Lab studies the mechanisms underlying how Notch signaling activates specific gene expression patterns using biochemistry, structural biology, and genomic approaches. The Research Support Assistant will conduct research under the direction of the PI, which will include techniques including tissue culture, reporter assays, RT-qPCR, and cloning. The Research Support Specialist will also help set up and maintain the lab supplies and organization. The successful incumbent must be able to work independently.

• Engage in research under the direction of the PI investigating Notch dependent gene regulation.

• Maintain lab organization and shared stocks. Assist in complying with all Environmental Health and Safety regulations.

• Keep electronic lab records, analyze data, generate written and oral reports of research performed. Participate in group meetings.

• Train new Graduate and Undergraduate students in lab techniques.

• Other duties appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
