Position Information: The full salary range for the Business Continuity Planner is $71,100.00 - $128,700.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $101,052 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
The Business Continuity Planner coordinates and supports campus-wide organization resiliency within the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework as a member of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) team. OEM assists the campus community in predicting, preparing, mitigating, responding and recovering from any adverse event that disrupts the campus mission. Through continuity planning, emergency preparedness and response, training, exercises and communications, we serve the campus leadership and community by strengthening how the campus mitigates and prevents risk; prepares for, responds to and recovers from emergencies; and protects the campus mission from disruption. Incumbent is responsible for engaging with the entire campus constituency to develop and integrate programs, plans and systems to minimize the disruption to critical campus services from any potential threat to our missions of teaching, research, public service and patient care. This position provides functional expertise on continuity planning and disaster recovery matters on an enterprise-wide campus level through the development, maintenance and implementation of Business Impact Analysis, the UC Ready Continuity Planning tool, recovery strategies, risk assessments, compliance standards, continuity plans, disaster recovery strategies, training and exercises. The Business Continuity Planner acts as a member of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) respectively.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required

Experience Requirements
4 - 7 years of related experience. Required
Minimum of 3 years combined experience in training and a related field; such as business continuity planning, business administration, higher education management, organizational development, education, emergency management, or disaster preparedness. Required
Experience with risk assessments, Business Impact Analysis(BIAs), Hazard Vulnerability Assessments(HVAs), Disaster Recovery Plans, and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs). Required
Experience in the field of continuity planning in a higher education setting. Preferred
Incident Command System (ICS) Certification 100, 200, 700, 800 must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Required
Professional certification. Preferred
Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) or equivalent certification. Preferred

Ability and willingness to respond to emergencies in a hazardous environment on an on-call duty basis, coordinate and participate in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and the Emergency Response Team (ERT). Required
Ability to work some night and weekend response for emergencies. Required
Must posses or have the abiltiy to obtain a California Drivers License in accordance with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Required

Minimum Requirements
Thorough knowledge and skill in applying and interpreting applicable local, state, and federal regulations and related standards and guidelines.
Thorough written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen and skill to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
Strong analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize and manage the successful completion of projects within time and budget constraints.
Strong skill to appropriately use technology and relevant scientific equipment as required.
Demonstrated ability to make recurring, formal presentations and provide effective training in continuity planning concepts to varied and diverse campus audiences, including the highest level of campus leadership.
Computer Skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other common computer applications including basic web design.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including tact, diplomacy and flexibility to interact and maintain working relationships with University administration, faculty, departments, students, staff and public representatives. Ability to clearly communication information and training to a broad variety of people in written form, in person and on the telephone.
Demonstrated knowledge of comprehensive integrated systems, technical skills, strong program management experience, and leadership in initializing, facilitation and managing complex and innovative programs and technical system.

Thorough knowledge/understanding of specific EH&S field(s) including related laws and regulations; and general knowledge/understanding of all EH&S fields.
