Position Information: The faculty and students of the UCR School of Medicine's Division of Biomedical Sciences are working to build a broad understanding of human disease, therapeutics and design of predictive experimental model systems through an innovative and rigorous program that integrates medical curriculum with mentored research and critical analysis of research-based modeling of human pathophysiology while working to bridge the gulfs between basic science and clinical medicine.
Under the direct supervision of the Binder laboratory manager, perform a broad range of general laboratory duties and assist with laboratory experimental procedures using a variety of genetic, molecular and biochemical approaches. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, maintaining stocks of solutions and reagents necessary for general lab use, immunohistochemistry analysis, Western Blot analysis, and handling, breeding and weaning of mice.

The full salary range for the Lab Assistant 3 is $25.51 - $30.37 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $25.51 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Requirements: Educational Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in related field of science. Preferred
Conditions
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and three years of laboratory experience or two years of college (including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences) and two years of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required
College-level coursework in biological science, chemistry, physics or related area. Preferred
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 2 - 3 years of laboratory experience. Required
Experience with MATLAB and Prism software. Required
Experience with rodent behavioral assays and analysis. Required
Experience with rodent electroencephalography and analysis. Required
Experience in handling transgenic mice and rats. Required
Experience with rodent anesthesia, surgical preparation, and post-operative care. Required

Minimum Requirements
Demonstrated experience in using and maintaining laboratory equipment, including but not limited to pipettes, centrifuges, and balances.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to calculate the molarity of solutions, perform dilutions and make solutions following protocols.
Ability to perform molecular biology experiments and to keep accurate documentation of all laboratory experiments.
Willingness to perform experiments involving handling, dissection and sacrifice of laboratory mice and rats.
Ability to work independently, multi-task and adapt to changing research priorities and workloads.
Ability to take initiative and handle responsibility.
Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to organize and maintain a clean laboratory.
Demonstrated computer skills, and experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in order to interact professionally and effectively with faculty, staff and students.
