Faculty at Episcopal High School report to their respective department chair for guidance, support, and accountability in teaching. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Support the school’s Mission & Guiding Principles as well as the school’s DCI Statement & Priorities through appropriate words and actions.
Design, prepare, and implement lessons, activities, and resources that facilitate active and effective learning.
Develop, administer, and provide feedback on various types of assessments that are timely and appropriate for achieving course objectives.
Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for learning.
Develop and maintain strong rapport with students and provide one-on-one assistance as needed.
Incorporate technology effectively and regularly.
Keep parents, advisors, and school leaders informed of student progress.
Serve as an advisor to a small group of students and fulfill all required elements of the Advisory Program.
Lead by example in Daily Chapel, including Family Chapel.
Attend and engage actively in department meetings and other required school events.
Share resources, assist, and collaborate with fellow faculty.
Fulfill other elements of the school’s Essential Expectations and Standards of Excellence in Teaching.
Episcopal High School of Houston, founded in 1983 and guided by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, is an inclusive and joyful Christian community where students discover and develop their individual talents through the Four Pillars -- academics, arts, athletics, and religion --preparing for meaningful lives in service to others.
As a co-educational and college-preparatory day school, EHS is located on a 35-acre campus in the suburban residential community of Bellaire, which is surrounded by Houston.
Enrollment – 800 students
Faculty – 98 men and women, with 60% holding advanced degrees.
Average class size – 15
Schedule – On an academic semester calendar with seven periods and lunch in a day
Financial Aid – Approximately 18-22% of students receive financial aid.
College Attendance – Generally, 97% of EHS graduates attend a four-year college and 3% attend a two-year college.
