The Teacher of the Extended Day Program (EDP) of UCLA Lab School within the Consortium of Schools in the School of Education & Information Studies (SE&IS) is responsible for the development and implementation of the curriculum for children enrolled in the program. Primary responsibilities include curriculum implementation, supervision of children and teaching assistants, implement a safe and healthy learning environment, establish parental interactions, and plan daily activities. The position also requires involvement in a research school environment. There are daily interactions with various school personnel to promote the success of the children enrolled in the program.

Skill in writing grammatically correct lesson plans and curriculum unites for children 4 to 12 years ofage. Skill to interact with 4 to 12 year old children to promote a positive and stimulating educationalenvironment. (Required)
Skill to clearly read aloud documents written in standard English in individual or small groupsettings using text such as Early Childhood curriculum and children's books. (Required)
Ability to work and speak to people of various social, cultural, economic, and educationalbackground to welcome and establish good working relationships with staff, parents, and children.Skill in speaking clearly and simply to convey information to children and parents. (Required)
Working experience as a teacher in a school-age program. Skill in working with other schoolpersonnel and outside researchers. (Required)
Ability to apply Early Childhood theory and approaches to relevant classroom teaching for children,4 to 12 years old. Organizational skills to establish daily routines for children at set times forreoccurring activities and events. (Required)
Working knowledge of parent conferencing to develop collaborative and cooperative relationships,discuss child's progress and respond to questions. (Required)
Ability to follow written instructions from a physician in exact detail when explicitly authorized todispense medicine. (Required)
Ability to create and maintain organizational procedures, including attendance, supply and materialinventories, documentation of parent conferences, behavior logs, etc. Ability to create and maintaininventory of curriculum materials and equipment for classroom use. (Required)
CPR and first aid certification from American Red Cross or other accredited organization. (Required)
Working knowledge of environmental health and safety policy/procedure sufficient to identify,remedy, or bring to the supervisor's attention issues that may affect children's physical orpsychological health. (Required)
