Performing duties of postal clerk for campus postal station.
Operating postal meter in accordance with postal regulations.
Serving as a cashier for campus post office station, dispensing stamps and accepting mail and packages for mail.
Picking up and delivering registered, certified, insured, and campus mail on established route.
Making deliveries and pick ups to and from U.S. Post Office.
Using electronic tracking system for incoming packages and USPS accountable mail.
Creating mailing lists for bulk mailings using software.
May be required to work in document services as needed.
Following all procedures to conduct work activities in a safe manner including but not limited to wearing PPE required for specific duties and safe handling of chemicals as outlined by University policies and/or the supervisor.
Immediately reporting any unsafe conditions to the supervisor and/or Environmental Health and Safety.
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to use email and learn basic mail sorting software.
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service of postal products to the Colgate community.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential.
Demonstrated ability to work collegially and effectively with a diverse group of constituents including students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Excel and Banner preferred.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Other Information:

Physical Demands:
Must have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, climb stairs and work in inclement weather conditions.
Ability to work weekends and overtime, as required.
