Under the general supervision of an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) and the Occupational Medicine Medical Director, the Occupational Health Nurse delivers professional nursing care and occupational health services to employees of TGH client organizations. This role conducts nursing assessments, provides first aid and remote triage for work?related injuries, performs clinical screenings required by OSHA (including audiograms, spirometry, respiratory clearance, and respirator fit testing), and administers vaccinations. The nurse maintains accurate medical records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems, coordinates vaccine clinics, offers health education, and participates in staff training. The position works across various corporate, ambulatory, industrial, and client?based clinic settings with rotating schedules. Responsibilities are carried out in alignment with the mission, vision, values, and quality improvement principles of Tampa General Hospital.
Essential Functions:
Conducts nursing assessments and delivers occupational health services to TGH client employees in accordance with established protocols.
Performs OSHA?related screenings, including audiograms, respirator fit testing, spirometry, and respiratory health clearances.
Provides onsite first aid, remote triage, and treatment for minor work-related injuries or illnesses.
Administers vaccines, coordinates vaccine clinics, and ensures proper storage, handling, and documentation of immunizations.
Maintains accurate, compliant patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Delivers health education and general wellness information to employees as appropriate.
Participates in employee training sessions and attends meetings to support client health and safety programs.
Collaborates with APPs, the medical director, and other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care and clinical standards.
Travels and rotates among assigned TGH client clinic locations based on operational needs.
Adheres to Tampa General Hospital’s mission, vision, values, and quality improvement processes while maintaining professionalism and patient confidentiality.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN
License:
Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
Florida State Driver’s License Required.
Certification:
COHN or COHN-S (Certificated Occupational Health Nurse) preferred, may consider 2 years of occupational health, emergency
Work Experience:
Bilingual in Spanish Preferred
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of occupational health principles, OSHA requirements, workplace safety standards, and employee health protocols.
Skill in conducting clinical assessments, including audiograms, spirometry, respirator fit testing, and vaccine administration.
Ability to perform accurate triage and deliver first aid for minor injuries and work-related incidents, both onsite and remotely.
Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and maintaining compliant, organized medical documentation.
Strong communication and education skills to provide health information, conduct employee training, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to work independently across rotating clinic locations, adapt to changing environments, and prioritize multiple client's needs efficiently.
