Salary: Dependent upon rank, Instructor $136,000 - $155,000, Assistant Professor $146,000 - $183,000, Associate Professor $171,000 - $209,000, Professor $196,000 - $351,000*
The Wilmer Eye Institute is seeking an MD or MD/PhD who has advanced training in the medical and surgical management of Vitreoretinal diseases. In addition to clinical and surgical proficiency, a research program with extramural funding related to this area of expertise is desired. The research could range from basic laboratory studies to translational studies, including efficacy work, to effectiveness studies and their dissemination. Keen interest in teaching residents and fellows is a must. Participation will include seeing patients at satellite offices. The faculty member will have an opportunity to build an outstanding program in retinal research, working in a highly interactive and exciting collaborative environment with distinguished scientists throughout the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Faculty rank and support will be dependent upon the successful applicant's experience and accomplishments.
*The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the Department of Ophthalmology faculty compensation program or pay from participation in the Department of Ophthalmology incentive compensation programs. The following additional vaccine requirements may apply, depending upon your campus. Please contact the hiring department for more information. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
