Position Summary:
The Division of Pharmacy Practice at the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty member focused on population health, community-based health programs, and ambulatory care clinical practice. The faculty member will contribute to community/ambulatory care teaching, scholarship, and service within the School of Pharmacy. This individual will provide direct patient care within the Duquesne University Center for Pharmacy Care and affiliated community partner sites in collaboration with the Center for Integrative Health and will manage and support innovative community health programming and outreach efforts.
Responsibilities:
Teaching & Experiential Education
Contribute to course instruction and curricular development related to community pharmacy, ambulatory care, and population health initiatives.
Provide community-based experiential learning opportunities for student pharmacists during APPE learning experiences.
Serve as a preceptor for PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Practice residents and mentor pharmacy learners in community-based settings.
Clinical Practice & Patient Care
Deliver care under approved protocols and standing orders in coordination with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Oversee and participate in daily clinical pharmacy operations, including point-of-care testing, patient education, and community-based programming.
Provide direct ambulatory care pharmacy services in accordance with state/federal regulations, professional standards, and University policies.
Leadership & Program Development
As Coordinator of Community Health within the Duquesne University Center for Pharmacy Care (CPC), partner with the Center for Integrative Health (CIH) and School/Center leadership to enhance existing clinical and educational programs and identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
Provide oversight and mentorship of clinical pharmacists and staff for community health events.
Support sustainable operations by balancing leadership and direct patient care roles based on program needs and funding availability.
Service
Participate in School, University, and professional service activities.
Represent the School and DUCIH in community partnerships, health fairs, and professional organizations.
Scholarship & Research
Engage in research and scholarship that advance population health, ambulatory care and integrative health.
Collaborate on grant-funded projects within DUCIH and the School of Pharmacy.
Present research findings through professional presentations, publications, and community reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree required.
Demonstrated experience in community practice, ambulatory care, and/or public health initiatives.
Prior teaching experience and ability to teach a broad variety of clinical topics within family medicine and internal medicine are desirable.
Strong commitment to teaching, interprofessional collaboration, and collaborating with stakeholders in under-resourced communities to improve population health.
Prior experience in personnel management as well as clinical service/program development, and/or grant-supported projects is desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
Postgraduate residency training (PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Practice or equivalent) preferred.
Prior community-centered clinical care experience preferred.
Alternately, the applicants may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential job functions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
