Job Code & Description:
General purpose: Faculty member will teach 1.5 credit study away course in Manhattan.
Summary of Essential Functions
Design GD 399 Special Topics in Graphic Design: MICA in Manhattan with WeType
Deliver course curriculum, including lectures, site visits, studio visits, instruction, critique, and professional development guidance.
Provide grades and feedback for students in a timely fashion and in accordance to MICAs faculty handbook.
The interdisciplinary nature of the Department and College requires that faculty maintain an active professional practice and meaningfully contribute in a variety of areas. In addition to teaching, all part-time faculty are expected to pursue research and/or professional engagements that contribute to the educational mission of the department and college.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Create course syllabus.
Develop daily lesson plans.
Deliver course curriculum
Create accommodation plans for students as needed.
Facilitate various studio and site visits across New York City.
Critique student work and provide constructive feedback.
Skills: Expert in Figma, Adobe, and other graphic design technology.
Ability to: Deliver engaging lectures, critiques, practical feedback.
Minimum qualifications:
Education: MFA in Graphic Design
Experience: 2 or more years post-secondary teaching experience.
Certifications/licenses: n/a
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ year in post-secondary teaching experience
Certification in various graphic design programs
Developed network of professional relationships to support and nurture student career goals

Compensation Range: Successful candidate will be placed on the adjunct faculty scale based teaching and professional experiece. Compensation will be between $2,527.50 and $3,943.50.
Physical demands and work environment:
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift up to (amt) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. (may be adjusted depending on position)
Work environment: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually (minimal, moderate, or high).
Required training: Handbook orientation, Anti-Harassment, Hazard Communication, Emergency Plans & Fire Prevention, Personal Protection Equipment. (additional training may be added, SEE: EHS Manager training schedule)
